Concussion/TBI

A concussion is a type of Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) that can result in loss of consciousness, “black outs”, “seeing stars” or simply feeling disoriented for a few minutes. Post-concussion syndrome (PCS) is a collection of symptoms related to lingering effects following a concussion. PCS may result from sports injuries, car accidents, a fall, etc and can happen after only one injury or several. Once a person has experienced one concussion, they are much more likely to experience another, making them more prone to end up with lingering symptoms.

Signs of PCS include headaches, dizziness, poor balance, fatigue, irritability, anxiety, insomnia, loss of concentration and memory, ringing in ears (tinnitus) and light and noise sensitivity.

The latest research is showing a connection between repeated traumatic brain injuries (rTBI) and chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) a brain disease that mimics dementia. Improving brain health with neurofeedback *may* reduce risk of later development of CTE. Research is currently being conducted across the world.

How can NEUROFEEDBACK help?

Those with PCS often come to us after feeling lost and defeated. Neurologists may prescribe medications to manage symptoms but they are often not enough. Neurofeedback is a convenient, non-invasive and safe recovery option.  By helping the brain learn to re-regulate itself, most clients see at least a 50% reduction in symptoms.
